If you were observant, you would have noticed a photo of our very own Tim Barralet-Leak in the social pages of the West.

Tim, this is starting to become a regular event! And it's not often Subs has a top player who is also a social butterfly.Keep up the good work and who knows we may even have more top appearances both on and off the field.

Umpiring Policy - information for members
  By Eric Alcock  - 25-03-2010

  Umpiring Policy

1.        All players agree on registration that they will undertake 2 umpiring duties each season.
2.        These duties generally apply when the team has a bye. In this case, HWA assigns the team to umpire at their own or at a lower level.
3.        The AHG team that does not have a bye is expected to assist other teams where the occasion arises. This may be in cases such as where a bye occurs in University breaks and players take the opportunity to go home to the country, or where a team is composed of very inexperienced players.
4.        Training- where a team is identified as having the need for training because of the inexperience of their players, the captain/manager should liaise with the club umpiring coordinator who will arrange with HWA for some training. This may be in the form of a coaching session or involvement in an online course. The club meets any costs involved in such training.
This training should occur preferably in the preseason but may be carried out in the early stage of the first round in sufficient time for the team to undertake any umpiring duty.
5.        Who ever is nominated to umpire is responsible for that fixture, whether they unmpire the game themselves or organise another umpire to fullfil their duty.
6.        There will be a club umpiring panel setup by Umpiring Co-ordinator Charles Porter which club members unable to fullfil their umpiring duty for what ever reason can turn to. There will be a set fee for using these umpires.

   Insurance
  By Eric Alcock  - 30-07-2009

The club has had it's fair share of injuries this season and players have been asking for details concerning the insurance cover from HWA.

The HWA cover can be located on the HWA website. However all players are to be made aware that this cover is limited and that the responsibility for insurance rests basically with the individual player. This is the advice from HWA who also recommend that players look at having their own cover, sufficient to help meet any costs incurred through a hockey injury.
