   Juniors 2010
  By Eric Alcock  - 04-11-2009

This is a plea for help with our juniors for 2010.

So far, I am delighted that
Shaun Ray
Anna-Lee Hazell
and Lauren Claxon have stepped in with the organisation.

Offers of assistance have also been received from Nic Chambers and Tim Barralet-Leak who both have very heavy work commitments but are ready to help when required.

Thank you to all those!!

But for the rest of you out there- coaches for Minkey, u/9 and u/11 are needed.Coaching of these teams would involve one session each week and attendance on a Saturday morning.

You may wish to take a team on or even, share the duties with another member. The parents step in and manage the team and were great support last season. Some renumeration from the club is offerred.

PLEASE dont let this pass you by but let me know how you can help.

(ex-Pres) Eric

Website Content Manager
  By Brendan McDowell  - 01-03-2010

Dear Subs faithful, we are chasing a Website Content Manager for this season. As content manager you will be responsible for making sure that frequent updates are made to the Subs website to ensure that it is kept up to date and full of relevant information.
Not all updates need to be written or added to the website by this position however they will need to co-ordinate other members to do so. Updates such as getting match reports from managers after games, getting photo’s loaded onto the web after social events and other items that will attract people to the Subs website.

This role doesn’t require any special computer, internet or website knowledge and is more about co-ordinating people to contribute to the website and keeping it up to date.   This is a key role to get the Subs website flourishing and more relevant to our members, for recruitment of new players and sponsorship.

If you are interested in this please contact Brendan McDowell. meetthefamily@hotmail.com

   Club Happenings

  Happenings

1.Pre-season training

If you haven’t been yet to the training, it’s not too late but with the season opening soon, you’ll need to have shaken out the Christmas bulge and be getting into top form by now!

Training is at Shenton on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting promptly at 6:30 p.m. with some running and hockey skills work. For those already attending, spread the word to other members.

2. Junior Registration day – Saturday March 6th 10:00-12:30 at the clubrooms.

Shaun Ray Lauren Jackson and Anna-Lee Hazell will be conducting this and would appreciate if any one has some spare time to assist at the desk.

4. Vets- our Vets teams look like being short of players this year so if you know anyone willing to come out of retirement to play in our o’40 or o’50 or o’60 sides, encourage them to come down to give the muscles a tryout on Dan’s Day. (Wheelchair access available!)

   Early season news

  Early days update

1. Registration -all members are required to register each year and the easiest way to do this is online at our website
subs.org

1.        New members –all new members need to register
As well new members coming from other metropolitan clubs need to gain a clearance. This can be done by contacting that club’s secretary

2.        Pre-season training – has already started! Be at Scotch College grounds at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The sessions are taken by a professional trainer and members are asked to pay $1 on arrival at each session.

3.        “Dan’s Day” – keep free Saturday March 13th. The club has booked the Shenton Turf for the day and will hold games for the men, ladies and also with some mixed hockey thrown in. It is also hoped that our Vets will turn up on the day to make it complete. In case you missed the news, the club lost one of its players, Dan Hall in tragic circumstances whilst he was away in Hong Kong.

This day is named in recognition of Dan. He was a popular player who played at several levels beginning at juniors, then playing at senior level and progressing to being in the top men’s side. There is a family connection with his father Jeremy who was a Vets player in the o/60s until a few seasons back.

The large turnout of Subs players at Dan’s funeral was testimony to the esteem in which he was held.

The day will also be a chance for those who haven’t registered to do so and the Treasurer will be ready to collect fees.

So there are several reasons for you to come along – apart from preparing yourself for the oncoming season. The starting time will be at 11:00 and food and drinks will be available
